Benefits of LED Strobe Lights on Emergency Vehicles
Posted by Extreme Tactical Dynamics on Jun 29th 2019
Emergency vehicles need lighting to warn both other vehicles and pedestrians that they are coming. Lights help to clear a path for emergency vehicles, legitimizing them in people's eyes and helping to show anyone from criminals to people waiting for medical attention that they're on the move. LED strobe lights provide an efficient and powerful option for first responder vehicles, including police cruisers and ambulances. They offer some excellent advantages over other options for emergency vehicle lighting. They include energy efficiency, durability and a longer lifespan compared to more traditional options that are available.
Long-lasting LEDs
LEDs are being used in a number of contexts to provide lights that last longer than more traditional bulbs. Many people use them in their homes and businesses for better convenience and to save money. Because LEDs last longer than other lighting types there's no need to replace them as often. The longer life of LEDs means less maintenance needed, whether it's changing individual bulbs or replacing entire lighting units when the light is no longer working. It reduces waste and cost, giving tens of thousands of hours of operating time. Many of our lights, such as our mini light bars are rated for 100,000 hours+!
Energy Efficiency
Along with longer lifespans, LED lights also offer superior energy efficiency. They're a more environmentally-friendly option than more traditional lighting types, using about 75% less energy than incandescent bulbs and about 60% less than xenon flash tubes. This greater energy efficiency helps to make LED strobe lights a more affordable option. This is good news for emergency service providers as allocating their budgets often requires some creative thinking.
Any money that can be saved in one area frees up part of the budget to be spent elsewhere. You probably don't want to spend huge amounts of money on emergency lighting, even though they are an important part of the setup for any emergency vehicle.
Durable Lights
Being able to rely on your lights during an emergency situation is crucial. LED strobe lights offer a durable option that you can rely on, so you can be sure they won't fail you when you need them most. They use semiconductor materials and the filaments aren't enclosed in glass like in other bulbs, which makes them less fragile and vulnerable. LEDs are more resistant to damage from various types of stress, such as vibrations and shock. This makes them ideal for using on emergency vehicles, which need to be able to travel at high speeds on sometimes on unpredictable terrains too.

Instant and Controllable Light
With LED technology, there's no need to wait a long time for the lights to warm up and turn on, unlike earlier types of energy-saving light bulbs. Xenon strobe lights have a slight delay, so LED strobes provide better performance in comparison. LEDs are also easy to control, allowing for different levels of output and customizable programming so that they can be set to the correct brightness and pattern.
LED warning lights offer a range of benefits to emergency vehicles. They improve safety and efficiency for both you, and others around you.
